The Accra High Court has adjourned the case of senior nurse Salomay Baffoe Awiti who is currently facing an incitement charge in connection with spreading false news on social media by ‘Ghana Jollof’.
The court has adjourned Baffoe’s case to October, 5, 2026 after proceeding on Wednesday, September, 30, 2026 because of the ongoing Judges and Magistrates’ Conference.
Last week, on 24th September, 2026 the Accra High Court dismissed the application by Baffoe indicating that she will remain in police custody to assist them in their investigation.
In the court proceedings, the court urged that the cyber-related aspects of the case need to be kept without interference by the suspect as the court continues with the investigations.
Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, the lawyer for Baffoe urged the court to grant the bail application by his client citing that she is a mother and one of her children is preparing to enter Senior High School.
The plaintiff’s lawyer refused the bail stating that the release of the suspect could interfere with the court’s investigation which could affect the verdict of the case.
Mr Enock Afoakwa, a member of the legal team for Baffoe, questioned the court, citing the evidential gaps in Baffoe’s case.
The legal team of Baffoe mentioned that they are preparing to challenge the bail rejection of their client.
Salomay Baffoe Awiti was arrested and arraigned before the Adenta Circuit Court for the abetment of the crime of publishing false under section 20(1) and 208 of the Criminal Act 1960 (Act 29) where she pleaded not guilty to the charges.
