Teacher Unions have suspended the two-week industrial strike following multiple meetings on Friday, October, 9, 2026.
The negotiation started with a meeting with the Minister for Labour, Jobs, and Employment and the union representatives, during which the minister expressed that the strike should end by the close of the day.
This follows the closed-door meeting between the teachers and the Council of State.
Chairman of the Council of State, Edward Doe Adjaho described the meeting as fruitful seeking to end the strike with immediate effect.
After the meeting, the leaders of the teachers’ union met the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC) to discuss the outcome of the meeting on ending the two-week strike.
The leadership of the teachers’ union issued a caution to the government to fulfill its commitment and failure can bring another industrial strike.
