The government of Ghana has suspended the fresh security service application for 2027 seeking to clear the backlog of personnel awaiting posts and medicals across all the security services.

According to the Minister of Interior, Hon. Muntaka Mubarak, the suspension follows the President, John Dramani Mahama’s decision to prioritise the security service and clear all applicants who have completed recruitment but has not been proceeded to training because of limited capacity.

Hon. Muntaka speaking before the Public Accounts Committee on Tuesday, October, 20,2026 says the portal remains closed for the next year.

“Next year there will be no new applications. We are not going to open the portal for next year”, he said.

He explained that the service would select qualified recruits from the previous application who met the requirements but were unable to secure places for the training.

He added that the process will continue until the applicants who are eligible to be considered before the fresh application.
