New Democratic Congress (NDC) communications member, Dela Edem has cautioned the general public to refrain from politicising the Obuasi Senior High School (SHS) alleged sexual assault involving the headmaster, Abdullai Zakaria.

According to Mr. Edem it neither the New Democratic Congress (NDC) nor the New Patriotic Party is responsible for the alleged assault and therefore if the allegation is established, the responsibility must rest on the shoulders of the individual involved.

“It is neither the NDC nor the NPP who asked the headmaster to do what is alleged to have been done. If the allegation is established he must act to face the necessary sanctions”, he said.

Mr. Edem added that the Ghana Education Service (GES) has begun investigating the matter, which has been referred to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service for further action.

He urged the general public to allow the relevant institutions to conduct the necessary investigation without any interference.

Also, he added that people should desist from drawing conclusions or demanding actions that may not be supported by the evidence.

“We should not politicize the matter but rather allow the investigation to establish the facts and allow the law to take its course”, he said.

His comments come amid the allegations against Obuasi SHTS for sexual assault.
