Former Member of Parliament (MP) for Dome, Hon. Adwoa Safo has declared her intention to contest the Dome-Kwabenya New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary primary.

In a press statement released by Mrs Safo dated Thursday October, 22, 2026, the decision was carefully made following several consultations and decisions with the party leaders and executive leaders.

According to Mrs Safo, she has reconsidered her decision after exploring opportunities outside the party, as she considers representing the people of Dome-Kwabenya in parliament remains her topmost priority.

“After considerable reflection, extensive consultation and broad based engagement with party leadership and executives and guided by my own conviction and unwavering loyalty to the Principles and Values of our political tradition, I formally announce my intention to once again present myself for consideration as the New Patriotic Party’s Parliamentary Candidate for the Dome-Kwabenya Constituency when the party announces the timetable and guidelines for the parliamentary primaries”, she said.

She added that the decision is aimed at offering developmental projects to the people of Dome-Kwabenya.

Also, she described the constituency as one of the rapidly expanding constituencies noting that it has both present development prospects and challenges that require sustained attention.

“Dome-Kwabenya remains one of the fastest-growing constituencies in Ghana, with significant opportunities and equally enormous developmental challenges. Nevertheless, over the last twelve years of my service as Member of Parliament, working together with residents, party faithful, community and religious leaders and stakeholders, we made meaningful progress in addressing many of these challenges and delivered tangible development”, she wrote.

Mrs. Safo further stated that during her 12 years in parliament, she collaborated with the traditional leaders, religious leaders, party members, and other stakeholders to address local challenges and advance development.

The declaration by Mrs Safo set the stage for a possible contest for the NPP parliamentary candidature in the Dome-Kwabenya pending the announcement and guidance yet to be released by the NPP party.
