The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hon. Okudzeto Ablakwa has dared the Minority in Parliament to show one evacuee from South Africa who did not receive the GH¢5,500 allowance from the Ministry.

According to Mr. Ablakwa, the Minority’s report aims to manufacture a scandal.

Speaking on the issue of evacuees from South Africa, Mr. Ablakwa said the evacuation exercise carried out was a surge of the anti-immigration segment on foreign nationals after an attack on them that ended on September, 4, 2026.

He said he briefed the public on the money spent during the evacuation exercise.

He dismissed the claims that some names on the evacuation list cannot be found and that part of the money is missing.

He described the statement as propaganda aimed to tarnish and described the exercise as a scandal.

“All the propaganda out there that some names on the evacuation can not be found and some voodoo analysis they have done that there is money that was not accounted for”, he said.

According to the Minister, he had been waiting for an evacuee to come out and say they were not paid.

“I’m looking for any Ghanaian who will step forward and say they did not receive the GH¢5,500 allowance or the GH¢500 transportation but I didn’t get anyone. Have you heard anyone?”, he said.

Mr. Ablakwa added that since the exercise has become a source of controversy, insisting that there was no scandal.

“This is a desperate attempt to create a scandal from the exercise when there is no scandal”, he said.

Mr. Ablakwa stated that it is propaganda as he said all the expenditure in the exercise was accounted for and everyone on the list was paid.
