President John Mahama has assured the people of the Upper West Region that construction of the new Wa Airport will begin soon.
The President on inspecting the project site assured the residents that the project is expected to provide a modern aviation facility.
Speaking on the September, 13, 2026, the President said the existing project was abandoned because it doesn’t meet the standard aviation facility making it necessary to the new airport construction.
He added that the project is expected to kick-start following the securing of fund by the Airport Company of Ghana.
Also he further stated that financial clearance has been made, contractors for the construction has been selected clearing the way for the project to begin.
President added that the construction of the new airport forms part of the broader perspective of the government to facilitate air transport across the country.
