The Ghana Education Service (GES) has warned all heads of Senior High and Senior High Technical schools for refusing to admit students over wooden chop boxes and trunks.
In a statement released on September, 18, 2026 by the GES to regional directors, the service has directed that Headteachers who are refusing students admission and charging unauthorized fees should desist from it or face disciplinary action.
The GES has ordered all Regional Directors to inform Headteachers who reject students’ accommodation due to the nature of trunks and wooden chop boxes, even though the school duly admitted them through the SHS placement.
The statement further stated that the imposition of an unnecessary financial burden on parents who cannot afford the prescribed school items should be addressed.
GES explained that students admitted into the boarding schools should be treated fairly regardless of their financial status.
The GES stated that the chop box and trunk should be of reasonable size and should not endanger the health of the people.
GES finally stated that the issue of students being denied admission to any senior schools will be investigated and reported to the management for further action.
