A community in Babiani called Humjibre in the Anhwiaso Belwai Municipality has been hit with sad news after a nine-year-old boy identified as Obeng Boateng was found dead in an abandoned galamsey pit.
The Assemblyman of Humjibre electoral area, Enock Happy Nkrumah speaking on Adom FM confirmed the incident after he was informed that the deceased had left home without returning after a few days.
According to him, the community members organised a thorough search in the area but it amounted to nothing.
After that, the case was reported to the Bekwai Police Command to assist in the search.

The search led to the discovery of the dead boy in an abandoned pit which is believed he drowned.
After consultation with the family and police, arrangements were made for the burial of the deceased.
