Dr. John Jinapor, the minister in charge of Energy and Green Transition, has made an official comment about the recent power outages across the country.
In an exclusive interview, addressing Ghanaians on power outages, termed ‘Dumsor’, he assured Ghanaians that the government is working assiduously to resolve the current situation, which is covering the country.
According to him, it is their wish for Ghanaians to enjoy a stable and reliable electricity supply that doesn’t fluctuate.

Dr Jinapor acknowledged the hard times this ‘dumsor’ issue is bringing to the people of Ghana, as he deeply empathizes with the public as measures are put in place to ensure smooth electricity supply.
In a press conference on Monday, 27th April, 2026, the energy minister announced that two generation units at the Akosombo Dam have been successfully restored, thus, adding 280MW to the national grid.

He later on stated that a third unite is expected to be operational very soon, adding another 140MW to the national grid.
This is his full statement: “I am determined to work with the team to overcome these challenges. Despite the loss, all the other plants are running, but is leaves a major deficit. I wish to assure you that I deeply empathize with you. We never anticipated, but we will rise above this.
The first generation unit was successfully installed yesterday. The second unit has also been brought and is generating power. The third unit is undergoing installation”
The energy minister, Dr John Jinapor, assures Ghanaians that, the era of ‘Dumsor’ is about to go down as Ghanaians continue to complain about it.
