The family of the late Apostle Emeritus Kwadwo Safo has rejected claims of the installation of the Apostle’s son, Israel Nana Kwadwo Safo, popularly known as Akofena, as the leader of the Kristo Asafo Mission of Ghana.
In a statement released by the family on Sunday, June, 21, 2026, the family stated the former Member of Parliament for Dome-Kwabenya, Hon. Sarah Adwoa Sarfo remains the leader of the family and is recognized to represent the family’s interests.
This comes after the tension of the alleged shooting incident that happened at Akofena’s residence which resulted in her being hospitalised.
According to the family, the late Apostle Kwadwo Safo appointed Israel Kwadwo Safo to be his successor in 2017 and entrusted him to oversee his businesses and the church.
But according to the family statement, the businesses started declining and the principles of the church were altered while Israel Kwadwo Akofena exercised authority over the church while the father was still alive.

It was further stated that the late father later appointed Adwoa Safo to be the head of the family and established her as the leader of the Kristo Asafo Mission Ghana.
It was added that, despite the father’s authority to choose her, Akofena and the leaders of the church planned to install him for which the family seeked court injunction to restrain him.
It was started on June, 21, 2026, Adwoa Safo attempted to serve the court injunction to her brother at his residence but the attempt proved unsuccessful.
And in the process of the encounter, Israel Kwadwo Safo discharged a firearm towards her direction and instructed his bodyguards to open fire on her vehicle.
The Ghana Police Service reported arresting six suspects after Adwoa Safo reported the case after driving the vehicle to the police station as evidence.
The family then stated that Sarah Adwoa Safo is currently responding to treatment and the family assures the public to remain calm on the ongoing situation.
